Company employee Akihiko Kamimura was found guilty of conspiring with four other men in the rape of five women in 1999 and 2000, Kyodo news agency said. The wheelchair-ridden Kamimura raped two of the five at their homes with the help of a 39-year-old company worker whom he met over the Internet, Kyodo said. It quoted presiding judge Hiroshi Yamura as saying Kamimura‘s criminal responsibility was „grave since he misused advanced communication methods to enable people who were strangers to each other to conspire easily to commit a bold crime.“ The four other men were tried separately and received five to 16-year prison terms, Kyodo said.
