Na stanici banskej záchrannej služby sú 24 hodín denne pripravené dve pohotovostné čaty. Do akcie idú vždy spolu. Ak sa stane jednému z nich čo i len technická chyba, akciu prerušia a vyfárajú všetci. Pretože čata je nedeliteľná.

Na záchranke funguje pravidelný a prísny režim. Ak si člen čaty nazabezpečí náhradu, nesmie počas služby opustiť stanicu. Záchranári každý deň precvičujú rôzne záchranárske techniky.

V piatok na obed sa na záchranke menia čaty. Nový týždeň začína krátkou inštruktážou vedúceho pohotovostnej služby a hlavného mechanika. Lekár urobí záchranárom zdravotnú prehliadku.

Na začiatku služby absolvuje každá čata cvičenie v dymovom polygóne. Dymnica simuluje banské prostredie. Je to veža s prekážkami napustená dymom. Záchranári v nej cvičia s plnou výbavou, tak ako pri reálnom zásahu.
