REYKJAVIK (Reuters) - An Icelandic jumbo jet with 441 passengers on board had to turn back shortly after taking off for London on Thursday when a seagull flew into one of the engines, an airline official said on Friday. None of the passengers noticed anything until the Air Atlanta Boeing 747 returned to Keflavik airport five minutes after take off at 0800 GMT, an airline flight controller said. But the engine was wrecked and will have to be replaced at a cost of $1 million. The passengers had to wait 12 hours for a replacement plane. Even then there was room for only 362 of them, and the rest had to fly to London on rival Icelandair.
