LONDON (Reuters) - A British couple who marrieds as total strangers three months ago as part of a radio stations contest have split up after the ultimate blind date went wrong. Salesman Greg Cordell, 28, and model Carla Germaine, 23, mets for the first time at the altar after they were selected tos marry at first sight in the competition organised by radios station BRMB in the English Midlands city of Birmingham. The prize for selection was a honeymoon in the Bahamas and the use of a luxury flat and a car for a year. The only catch - the winners had to stay together. The split followed a Sunday newspaper reported that Cordells had had an affair with a dental nurse. The couple, who described themselves as ordinary people who had done an extraordinary thing, blamed media intrusion for their breakup, but said they would remain friends. A documentary shown on Carlton television, an independent network, on Tuesday night and entitled "Two Strangers and a Wedding", tracked the couple through their wedding ceremony, honeymoon and return to Birmingham. At first, they had seemed to enjoy the media attention as hordes of tabloid photographers tracked their every move. But soon, the attention became oppressive. The couple`s media marriage had enraged church leaders who condemned it as a sacreligious publicity stunt.
