TYRE, Lebanon (Reuters) - The Iranian-backed Hizbollah movement said one of its fighters was killed in south Lebanon on Monday. Hizbollah said in statement that Haitham Faquih, 25, "was martyred while doing his duty in the south". It did not provide more details. His death raised to six the number of Moslem guerrillas killed in south Lebanon since the start of the year. Seven Israeli troops and one South Lebanon Army (SLA) militiaman have been killed in the same period. Separately, a security source said Israeli warplanes had attacked suspected Hizbollah positions just north of Israel‘s south Lebanon occupation zone. The source said two Israeli jet fighters fired a total of six rockets at a valley near the village of Zibquine north of the western sector of the 15-km (nine-mile) deep buffer zone. There was no immediate report of casualties in the overnight attack. It was the third consecutive day of such attacks, and brought to 42 the number of Israeli air raids on Lebanon since the beginning of 1999. Hizbollah (Party of God) is waging a war of attrition to oust Israeli troops and their local SLA militia allies from the occupation zone. Israel set up the buffer zone in 1985 to guard its borders from potential guerrilla attacks.
