BRATISLAVA (SITA) Popular Slovak showman Jožo Pročko, reacting to Movement for a Democratic Slovakia‘s Public Opinion Department head Igor Zvach, who suggested journalists investigate Pročko‘s income for Party of Civil Understanding (SOP) campaigning, said someone has a short memory. He explained that it was exactly the HZDS that offered him a campaigning job in February. „They offered me a nice future if I supported their movement that stands on the top with the flag,“ he said. According to Pročko, the fact that they have addressed him twice, through two different people without knowing about each other, indicates amateurism of the HZDS. Pročko refused to comment on the offered price, but said that „it was so much I could finance the whole SOP campaign myself.“ He added, „SOP pays me the money that would be enough for my disabled father with a 2,900 SKK pension from Mr. M. for a dignified life without my monthly financial help.“ Pročko also said his father is a Mečiar—supporter, but „when his god is saying what kind of buffoon I am and my wife worries about our children, he might change his opinion.“ We obtained the information that the HZDS also wanted to „buy“ for its election campaign famous Czech pop singer Lucie Bílá. She confirmed the information and said: „I have my own opinion about Mečiar. They offered me millions, but I am not for sale. I want to be able to look into the mirror every morning,“ she said. Also the Slovak band Senzus announced through its agency that it refused the 7 million SKK the ruling HZDS offered it for participation in the pre-election campaign. Senzus preferred a similar offer from the Our Slovakia movement. Our newspaper and the weekly Domino Forum published last week that the HZDS is negotiating through VSZ management with several artists and sportsmen, to whom it offers high sums though the law sets the maximum amount one political party can put into its pre-election campaign at SK 12 million.
