PRAGUE (Reuters) - One person died and two others were missing after rain-swollen rivers flooded the eastern Czech district of Rychnov nad Kneznou, local authorities said on Thursday. František Talavášek, a member of Rychnov‘s special emergency rescue workforce, said a flood alert was declared on Wednesday after heavy rainfall made small rivers and creeks swell, but added the situation was improving. „Water levels are already coming down, showing destruction on roads, railways, and homes,“ he said, adding several road connections were disrupted. He said the rain had stopped and forecasts were favourable but dozens of inhabitants and several children‘s summer camps had already been evacuated. Extensive flooding killed more than 100 people last summer in the eastern Czech Republic and southern Poland.
