BRATISLAVA (SITA) The ruling coalition‘s presidential candidate, Otto Tomeček, does not believe he would be elected president in the 5th round of the parliamentary election in Parliament. „But after my name was leaked to the press, I could not step back,“ Tomeček, Rector of Matej Bell University in Banska Bystrica, told SITA, adding that it was a sort of dilemma for him whether to accept his nomination because of certain moral obligations towards the university.“ He confirmed that his HZDS membership was suspended because of his academic function. Regarding this fact, he excluded that his name would be featured on the HZDS list of candidates for upcoming parliamentary elections. Tomeček rejected opposition criticism of his partiality and insufficient reputation at home and abroad. „I am sorry that they always have to have some reason to be against and that they do not verify things. I wrote a textbook on chemistry for the 7th class of elementary school, „ Tomeček said in opposition to criticism. Tomeček knows nothing about his chances for being elected. „I do not care. I do not read newspapers, nor do I watch television because I am preparing a publication. It is the matter of deputies,“ he said. If elected, his priorities would be democratic, free, and fair elections. The fifth round of parliamentary presidential elections will be held on Thursday, July 9, featuring the only candidate for the top job.
