TRNAVA (SITA) If the Slovak Democratic Coalition (SDK) succeeds in the September election, its chair Mikuláš Dzurinda is decided to apply for the post of Premier in the newly-formed Cabinet. It should include the parties of wider opposition coalition but Dzurinda refused any speculations on post-election cooperation with the Party of Civic Understanding (SOP). The SDK still cooperates with the Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK) but first of all „we want to adopt the new constitution to boost citizens direct participation in the managing of public affairs, including the direct presidential election,“ Dzurinda communicated at a press conference after the SDK establishing congress. Dzurinda confirmed that the SDK will operate as one party also after the election. The basic program feature of the new party is responsibility, Dzurinda said but declined to specify its political orientation. He announced that the list of candidates was approved but it does not contain any personalities from Slovak cultural life or sports, as they will only back the SDK. Dzurinda announced that former president Michal Kováč will not run for the SDK.
