BRATISLAVA (SITA) - The book "Ice Hockey on Two Continents" by Peter Šťtastný and Igor Otčenáš, published by Timy publishing house, won the category of The Book of the Year `97 of the seventh competition of the Book Revue biweekly. The result of the Book of the Year competition were announced in Bratislava on Wednesday. The first circulation of the book was sold out within approximately two weeks. "Epistles Old and New" by Milan Rúfus, published by the National Literary Center-the House of Slovak Literature, placed second while the photo-book "Tatras and Spis" by Vladimír Barta, Vladimir Barta Jr., and Ernest Rusnák, printed by AB ART publishing company, placed third. The debut of "Tints" from the pen of Veronika Šikulová, published by Slovensky Spisovatel, won the second category The Debut of the Year. "The Price for Freedom" written by Táňa Keleová-Vasilková and issued by Printservis won second place while the debut by Danuša Faktorová, printed in 1.PB Press, placed third. The last category of the survey was The Publishing House of the Year. Slovart placed first, followed by Timy and Mlade Leta. The sponsors of the competition, National Literary Center general director Drahoslav Machala, Incheba general director Alexander Rozin, president of the Slovak Association of Publishing Houses and Booksellers Alexius Aust, Democratic Union vice chairman Ľudovít Černák, the head of the Slovak Trade Union of Workers in Publishing and Book Trade Elena Linzbothová, editor in chief of INFO book magazine Katarína Farbulová, and director of Watt publishing house Igor Vlčko handed out the awards to the winners.
