s from a group of about 100 people demanding the prince pay compensation they incurred during fighting in the capital last July. There were no reports of injuries or arrests during the disturbance in a park in front of the hotel. But the pro-Ranariddh group burned at least one banner which demanded the prince pay for damages. Ranariddh, who returned to Cambodia on Monday after nearly nine months in exile, was forced from power in July after two days of fighting in the capital. Scores of people, both soldiers and civilians, were killed and some sections of the city sustained heavy damage. The fighting in July erupted when powerful Second Prime Minister Hun Sen ordered troops under him to move against the prince`s forces in the city. The prince, who left the country the day before the fighting began, was ousted in the coup and returned for the first time on Monday. Ranariddh was found guilty in absentia last month for various security crimes related to the coup and was ordered to pay $50 million in damages and sentenced to 35 years in prison. But the prince`s father, King Norodom Sihanouk, pardoned Ranariddh which freed him from the fine and the prison term. Ranariddh was in the hotel when the scuffle broke out and was due to continue meetings with diplomats and top officials from his FUNCINPEC party.
