n saw opposition representative Nemo Burchuladze entering the Georgian embassy for talks with Ambassador Vazha Lordkipanidze. The gumen holding the hostages have said they might free the captives once the negotiations started in earnest. Armed supporters of Georgia's late leader Zviad Gamsakhurdia seized four U.N. observers on Thursday. Their demands included talks between the government and the opposition, withdrawal of Russian troops from Georgia and freeing of gumen arrested on suspicion of trying to assasinate President Eduard Shevarnadze. One captive was freed on Sunday. Shevardnadze said he was ready for negotiations to secure the release of the remaining three and ordered his ambassador in Moscow to meet an opposition representative. It was not clear what would be the substance of talks after Burchuladze said he had nothing to do with the hostage-takers and denounced their action. "I have no demands," he told Reuters shortly before the talks. "It is hostage-takers who have some demands and I am not in contact with them...I denounce acts of terrorism, including this one."
