„Everything started when I was small. A person in my family abused me sexually, I was two years old,“ Mulder told the weekly magazine VSD in an interview. VSD said it conducted its interview with 32-year-old Mulder on November 3, hours before her sister had her committed to a psychiatric clinic, where she is believed to be still staying.
Mulder shot to fame in the early 1990s as one of the original supermodels with Linda Evangelista and Cindy Crawford. She said she suffered from memory gaps for most of her adult years but started getting flashbacks of her childhood abuse and rapes during summer holidays in Mauritius in 2001. A French judge in November opened a preliminary inquiry into the allegations. Mulder first made the accusations on the set of a French television programme in October, but executives at the channel, noting her distressed emotional state, decided not to broadcast the interview. However, local media reported the allegations and speculation has grown since about the model‘s mental state.
The magazine said Mulder appeared distressed during its interview with her but had decided to publish the remarks because she wanted her story made public. „When you publish this article, it will be the beginning of the end of my suffering. I want justice, that‘s all,“ it quoted her as saying. Reuters
