LONDON (Reuters) - A British teenager has died from eating her own hair. Rachel Haigh, 17, had chewed her hair for years and this had caused a knotted mass of hair the size of a rugby ball to build up inside her, an inquest was told in the south coast town of Hastings. When doctors operated on her, they found the tangled mass of hair filled her stomach, according to British newspapers. They tried to remove the hair ball but trainee hairdresser Haigh suffered massive internal bleeding and died. After the operation, Haigh‘s mother was shown a photograph of the hair ball. „I couldn‘t believe it,“ she said. „It looked like a dead rat.“
