LONDON (Reuters) - When a bus inspector told British student Philip Bussy that he had paid 20 pence (32 cents) too little for a fare, the student immediately offered to pay the difference. The 18-year-old was surprised when the inspector refused to take the money, and was stunned when London Transport chiefs later ordered the full force of the law to be taken against him. The student had the last laugh though when magistrates threw out the court case, newspapers reported on Wednesday. Now taxpayers will have to foot the cost of the case, which is likely to be around 5,000 pounds ($8,062). „In hindsight perhaps we should not have proceeded,“ a London Transport spokesman was quoted as saying.
