Meciar said he intended to protect lives so that they are not killed before the parliamentary elections are held. He said that, for that reason, he simply eliminated the case. „I just stopped it,“ he said. According to Mečiar, leader of the Slovak Democratic Coalition Mikuláš Dzurinda does not deserve the „title leader of the Opposition.“ However, in this context, he quoted the bible and said, „People are different. They are cleverer but also stupider. But God loves all of them and certainly also loves Dzurinda.“

Mečiar explained that those who compiled the Agenda 2000 document used information sources different from the ones the Slovak government used. „The reality is better than the document,“ he claimed. He also said, unsurprisingly, that no EU entry talks have started yet. The prime minister also commented on the resolutions of the European Parliament (EP). He asked why the EP should be entitled to want Mečiar to do something that for him naturally flows from internal relations with the citizens. „We do not do things for the EP, but for the Slovak citizens,“ Mečiar told STV. According to Mečiar, EP resolutions very often reflect only the opinion of a certain group while many consider it the stand of the EP.
