PRAGUE (Reuters) - Czech President Václav Havel is in stable condition with no complications following intestinal surgery on Sunday, his office said in a statement on Tuesday. Doctors operated on the 61-year-old president to remove a bag bridging a gap in his intestine. The bag was inserted after emergency surgery to remove about 30 cm of his large intestine in April while on vacation in Austria. „Václav Havel is conscious, without a temperature, but is breathing with the aid of a respirator in an intensive care unit (at a Prague military hospital),“ the statement said. Havel, who lost part of a lung to cancer last year, has spent most of his time since returning to the Czech Republic recovering at a presidential villa west of Prague. A group of Czech doctors that regularly care for the president have said the intestinal problems were in no way related to the cancer.
