BRATISLAVA (SITA) - Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry says that Russian President Boris Yeltsin`s statement unambiguously supporting Slovak Premier Vladimír Mečiar is not an interference into Slovakia`s internal affairs. Yeltsin`s sentence "We want, we want so much that you win the election" cannot be qualified as surprising from the international point of view either, Anton Pinter, Ministry`s political section head told SITA. Pinter said that the Russian President has already several times declared his support to his political partners abroad in a pre-election time. Statements he addressed to US President Bill Clinton and German Chancellor Helmut Kohl are of the same nature. International relations register a lot of such statements and no of the involved countries labeled them an interference into its internal affairs. Pinter also spoke on Mečiar`s Moscow address he delivered in Russian. As he said this fact in no case goes against the protocol. Many statesmen who are speaking in front of wider audience use the language of a host country.
