The National Organising Committee for the 1998 IFLA Conference in Amsterdam is pleased to announce the availability of the "IFLA Netherlands Conference Grant" to partially support the participation of a number of delegates from developing countries and Eastern Europe to the 64th IFLA Congress, to be held in Amsterdam from August 16 to 21, 1998. The funds for the grant have been brought together by the Netherlands Ministry of Development Aid, and the Netherlands Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. The Grants Committee is chaired by Mr Paul Nauta, Former Secretary General of IFLA.
The grant is only intended to partially cover participation costs and at a maximum will only cover travel, accommodation and a per diem allowance. Registration fees must be covered by the recipient and need to be paid in advance before May 15, 1998.
Criteria for selection
Applicants should have a minimum of five years of professional experience and should be actively involved in the work of their national association for librarianship or information science. In the appointment of travel grants, educators will be given priority. In appointing grants, the Grants Committee will look for a balance between all sectors of library and information work.
