TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (Reuters) - A Honduran peasant castrated himself with a machete in a fit of rage because his wife refused to have sex with him, a leading local newspaper reported on Monday. The Heraldo daily said Juan Pablo Varela, 47, cut off his testicles after his wife Maria lost interest in him. The couple have four children. "Once he cut off both testicles he put them on a table, then grabbed them and went to a health center to have them reattached", the Heraldo said. It said Varela was not in any danger but his chances of recovering full manhood were extremely slim. The couple live in the Patuca region, 130 miles (210 km) east of the capital Tegucigalpa.
