BRATISLAVA (SITA) -- In a secret ballot on Thursday, Slovak parliamentary deputies, have not elected a new president from the three proposed candidates. According to unofficial information, Slovak Democratic Coalition candidate Štefan Markuš received the most votes, followed by Party of the Democratic Left candidate Juraj Hraško and Slovak United Party of Labor candidate Augustín Kurek. A candidate would have to receive ninety votes to be elected president. Speaker of Parliament Ivan Gašparovičset February 6 as the date for the second ballot in this round of presidential elections. Markuš and Hraško will run in the second ballot.
