SHANGHAI (Reuter) - A boy in a southern Chinese village died after being set on fire by a neighbour who poured gasoline on him in a dispute with the child`s father over watermelons, the Xinmin Evening News said on Tuesday. As the eight-year-old boy was on his way to his first day of school on Monday in his village in southern Zhejiang province, Tan Jianming, 27, poured gasoline over him and set him alight with a cigarette lighter, the newspaper said. The boy was burnt to death, it said, adding that Tan was in custody. The boy`s family had suspected Tan of damaging some of the watermelons they grew, and this had led to an escalating dispute which culminated in Tan following the child to school and setting him alight, it said.
