ia war crimes tribunal on Monday to stand trial on charges that they persecuted and killed Bosnian Moslems in the Lasva Valley region of central Bosnia in 1993. Kordic pleaded not guilty to charges that he had overall leadership over attacks on Moslems in the Lasva Valley region in which hundreds of civilians were killed or wounded. Kordic was in the dock with Mario Cerkez, Ivan Santic and Pero Skopljak on charges of responsibility for killing and wounding Bosnian Moslems, including women and children. Cerkez was a commander of Bosnian Croat forces, Santic, mayor of Vitez at the time of the attacks and Skopljak, chief of police in Vitez. The four men, plus six others accused of participating in a massacre at the village of Ahmici, were flown from Croatia to The Hague on Monday by the Dutch airforce. The men facing the Ahmici charges were due to make their pleas later on Wednesday.
