Victor Rosales Duarte, known as Santa Claus Nica, gives candy to children who are recollecting trash at the La Chureca Municipal dump in Managua. For the last 14 years, Rosales has been a kind of father for thousands of children, giving them toys each Christmas. This year Rosales will distribute 12,000 toys, food, milk and candy to children all over the country, including the 5000 children mostly living poor areas in the capital Managua.

LONDON - A jailed cocaine dealer is working as Santa Claus on day release from a British prison. John Tams, who dons beard, boots and red suit to work in a cafe's Christmas grotto, said he wanted to give something back to the community. "They know who I am and that I've done wrong but they have welcomed me with open arms," the 50-year-old said after helping to build the grotto with a fellow inmate. Both are on a day release program from a jail in Yorkshire, northern England. "There were carefully risk-assessed. They do not pose any threat to the public," said a spokesman for the Home Office (Interior Ministry). Reuters
